COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

• BEFORE March 1st- Looking for a volunteer who can go to the St Augustine airport to pick up a donation and bring it to their facility. The donation is boxes of plaques, so you would need a truck or van

• Saturday, February 26- Volunteer Appreciation Day at FCNMHP- all volunteers welcome! 2pm. Get a tour, meet the staff and learn more about them! RSVP to rmcalee@fcnmhp.org

• Home and Patio Show- FCNMHP Booth- Prime Osbourne Convention Center. Volunteers should be 16 and older. Help them promote FCNMHP at this fun event. Shifts are: Wed 3/2 1p-4p for set up Thu 3/3 12n-4p and 4p-9p Friday 3/4 12n-4p and 4p-9p Sat 3/5 10a-4p and 4p-9p Sunday 3/6 10a-2p and 2p-6p **NOTE- we do not have parking passes for this event

• HOME AND PATIO SHOW TICKETS- Bring a 20 pound bag of dry unopened pet food to them between 2/26 and 3/3 and get 2 free tickets to the show while supplies last!

• Saturday March 5th- Pet Food Bank Distribution - they still need people to help give out food to needy pets! 9a-2p, 14 and up at FCNMHP 6817 Norwood Ave.
**Next Pet Food bank- also available to sign up- Saturday April 2

• COUPONS NEEDED! They need Purina Dog Chow and Meow Mix coupons. They will make a food purchase from the Pepsi grant $$ and these are the products they are buying. Please mail to them by 3/5. FCNMHP 6817 Norwood Ave Jax FL 32218

• Saturday, March 12- Dog Lovers Day- Mascots Needed! This event is at Adventure Landing Jax Beach. They need 2 volunteers 11a-1p and 2 volunteers 1p-3p to be their mascots. 14 and up with adult supervision

• Saturday, March 12- Gate River Run JR Run- at Jax Fairgrounds. 8:30-1:30 14 and up with adult supervision. They need about 20 people to help manage the JR run and they get a donation from the race to help their programs

• Saturday March 19- Fill the truck FOOD DRIVE- Need volunteers from 10-2 at two locations TBD- 1 will be OP/Mandarin area, the other will be Southside/Beaches. Help them collect food for their pet food bank

• It's their 2nd Anniversary for the clinic! Celebrate with them at the Espeto Fundraiser Dinner on April 7th. Tickets are available at http://www.fcnmhp.orgm/ or call 520-7902

WALK-INS WELCOME!

Before or after school you can always come by to see us! Especially if you aren't trying to catch a bus. If you are a bus rider, the best way to see us is to make an appointment.

APPOINTMENTS ENCOURAGED!
We want to give you our UNDIVIDED attention and with the number of tasks a school counselor has, that can be difficult when walking in or simply stopping by. Student Counselor Request Forms can be picked up in guidance (before or after school or between classes) and dropped off in guidance (before or after school or between classes). They sit on Ms. Menter's desk. Simply fill one out, leave it for us and we will be sure to call you out of class!

United Way 2-1-1 is the suicide intervention and prevention helpline for this region and the call center is nationally accredited by the American Association of Suicidology. Call center specialists are also certified and trained to handle crisis and suicide-related calls.

MISSION

Our mission as School Counselors at Edward H. White High School is to provide a comprehensive counseling program that attends to the personal/social, academic, and career preparation/college planning needs of all students. Services include group and individual counseling, academic support (educational resources), responsive services, career and college planning, and student and family advocacy. Our goal is to promote a commitment to life-long learning, personal and academic growth, and to aid students in becoming responsible, culturally aware and productive members of society. This foundation will be supported and further strengthened by consultation with educators, administrators, parents, and community advocates.

PHILOSOPHY

The school counseling department at Edward H. White High School believes that every student should be treated with dignity and value. We will strive on a daily basis to provide services to all students through a comprehensive school counseling program.

The comprehensive school counseling program at Edward H. White High is:

Fundamentally based on the belief that all of our students can learn and achieve at their highest potential with proper support from staff, parents/guardians and the community
Planned and implemented by the Edward H. White School Counseling Department, based on guidelines from the Duval County Public School’s Office of Guidance Services and all stakeholders who support the academic, career and personal/social development of students
Committed to providing a comprehensive, developmentally sound program of services based on the ASCA national model to meet the needs of our diverse population and evaluated by data driven models
Proactive in the delivery of the Edward H. White High School Counseling Curriculum and in monitoring student’s academic, career, and personal/social achievements
