Children of Divorce Scholarship - deadline May 1st

The Law Firm of Ayo and Iken, a Florida law firm helping people with divorce and custody issues recognizes parents who co-parent their children despite the hardships of a separated household. Parents that successfully prioritize the best interests of their children should be recognized.  We would like the children of those parents to be a success in life and recognize the outstanding example of parenting shown by their mothers and fathers.

The Law Firm of Ayo and Iken, would like to help Florida high school seniors who have lived in a divided household from which two parents strive to maintain respect for each other as an ongoing concern while caring for their children. Two winners, selected by a committee of child custody attorneys, will each be awarded a $1,000 scholarship to be used toward their first year of college. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is May 1st, 2014.

If your parents:
Are permanently separated or divorced
Communicate openly and positively
Join together to continue showing you love
Work together in your best interest


Then we want to hear from you!


Eligibility:
Must be attending senior year of high school
Plans to attend post-high school education
Lives in a household separated by a divorce
Other criteria as listed below


Deadline for Application is May 1st, 2014

Scholarship Requirements:
You must write a 2000 minimum word essay describing how your parents continue to work together despite being part of a separated household. Your essay must describe in detail how your parents overcame obstacles and remained excellent role models.

Selection of Winner:
The winning essay shall be selected by a committee of child custody attorneys.  The winning essay shall have individual names removed and then will be published online in a special section of our website showing examples of excellent parenting skills. The scholarship award will be paid directly to each winner, preferably at their high school awards event.

How your parents still communicated after the divorce
How both parents took steps to work together in a co-parenting role
How both parents showed a united front to ensure you grew up in a loving household

Teen Safe Driving - High School Video Contest 2014 by The SELF Movement
Well, here is your chance to do something about it. The SELF Movement is partnering with The Allstate Foundation, Duval County Public Schools and The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to bring awareness to this deadly statistic by hosting a Teen Safe Driving Video Contest.
So get a group of up to four high school students together to create a compelling 30-60 second video that promotes safe driving habits! Compete against high schools in Duval County for bragging rights, have your team’s video promoted on the web and win up to $4,000 in scholarships* for your team! The winning videos and school will be formally announced at The Third Annual Student O.S.C.A.R.S., a red carpet event scheduled for May 28th.

GET STARTED BY FOLLOWING THESE STEPS:

STEP 1: CREATE A 30-60 SECOND VIDEO

Create a video to inform and inspire your friends about the dangers of distracted or impaired driving. Creativity and educational value is more important than quality. It can be a parody, flip book or even sock puppets – seriously! As long as you get the message across in the video and follow the rules.

STEP 2: SUBMIT YOUR VIDEO

Format your video according to the guidelines, and upload it here to this site between February 19th and March 31st, 2014 at 11:59 PM.

STEP 3: VIEW AND VOTE

The public will be allowed to view, vote on, and select forty (40) finalists from the video entries from April 5th to April 20th, and a panel of renowned judges will select the overall winners from the categories Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing, and Best Comedy. The top three videos as selected by the judges will be finalists for Best Picture and it is from these three videos that the scholarship prizes will be awarded. Submit your video early for the best chance to win, but even if you submit your video late in the contest you still have a chance at the grand prize!. Inform Your Students Today About the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Math and Science Scholarships

Named for the first African American to walk in space, ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Math and Science Scholarships are available to 2014 graduating high school seniors in school districts represented by the Council of the Great City Schools.

Four scholarships for two males and two females --- $5,000 each --- will be awarded to two African American and two Hispanic students on behalf of the former NASA astronaut, physician and businessman, Dr. Bernard Harris.  Deadline for submissions is April 7, 2014

***This year students may apply to the scholarship online.

Doodle 4 Google is an annual program that invites K-12 students in the United States to use their artistic talents to think big and redesign Google's homepage logo for millions to see.

This year, students are asked to exercise their creative imaginations around the theme, "If I Could Invent One Thing to Make the World a Better Place..." One talented student artist will see their artwork appear on the Google homepage, receive a $30,000 college scholarship, and a $50,000 technology grant for their school along with some other cool prizes!

But we also know that it can be expensive which is why we award $1,000 every week to a high school student.
