Middle/High School Recovery Programs
Dates: June 18 - July 27, 2012
Time: 7:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
  • Middle and High School Course Recovery

    If your middle or high school student needs to recover a one credit course (or two half-credit courses in high school), this 6-week, half-day program is for you. Students may attend one of five middle schools or five high school sites for work through the Compass Odyssey computer program for a 3-hour block. At middle school, Grade 8 students needing one class for promotion will receive top priority. Attendance policy applies.

  • Algebra I EOC/Course Recovery

    If your middle or high school student needs to recover Algebra 1 credit and/or Algebra 1 End of Course (EOC) exam, this six (6) week program is for you. This program will cover the fundamental concepts of algebra. Students will also receive remediation that will prepare them for the retaking EOC exam. Students may attend one of five (5) school sites for teacher lead full day instruction for Algebra 1 recovery. Grade 9 students needing recovery will receive top priority. Attendance policy applies.

  • College Reading and Mathematics for Success

    If your rising 12th grade student needs to demonstrate reading and/or mathematics college readiness due to Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (PERT) cut score requirements, this six (6) week, half day program is for you. Students will receive remediation that will prepare them for the retaking the PERT exam. Students may attend one of five (5) high school sites for three hours of teacher lead content specific instruction. Attendance policy applies.
  • College Reading and Mathematics for Success Sites

High School Academies
  • This "Bridge" program will support enhancement of the required reading and mathematics skills to be successful in a new high school environment. Students in this program will receive both academy specific instruction in reading, math, and other college readiness objectives, and engaging introductions to aspects of each school's academy concentration.

  • High School College-Bound Academy

    If your 11th, 12th or rising 13th grade student has not passed FCAT Reading or FCAT Mathematics required for graduation, this program is for you. Students will receive extensive ACT/SAT preparation with 3 weeks of reading and 3 weeks of mathematics. The district will pay for ACT/SAT tests in early fall for those who complete the program. The district will also provide (at no cost for each student who completes the course) a one-year subscription to ACT/SAT Online. Turnaround high school students will attend one of three Title I sites.
  • High School College-Bound Academy School Sites

  • DCPS, Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) and Bethel Baptist Church Summer Intervention Academy

    If your high school student needs to recover a one-credit course and has scored an FCAT Level 1 or 2 in reading, mathematics or science, this six-week, half-day program is for you. Students from the 11 Title I high schools are eligible to attend at no cost. DCPS, FSCJ and Bethel Baptist Institutional Church partner in offering this unique, structured-learning environment to support high school credit recovery in English, mathematics, science or social studies courses. FCAT support for 9th and 10th grade students is also available. Limited space is available. Students may attend FSCJ and Bethel Sites for rigorous classroom work with a highly qualified teacher for a four-hour block. Attendance policy applies.

DCPS TECHNOLOGY DIVISION ANNOUNCEMENT!

Scheduled Shutdown Weekend:
Saturday June 2nd, 2012 from 7:30AM – 4:30PM 

Each month the district’s technology team must apply updates and critical patches to systems to make sure that they are not vulnerable to security threats that are identified by companies such as Microsoft and Adobe on a regular basis (Once a month). Please note these important dates on your calendar to insure you are ready for the future maintenance dates.
