At Florida State Univeristy, Service Scholars will complete a minimum of 75 community service hours per semester, participate in individual and group service projects, attend regular meetings, engage in classroom learning, and promote community participation among their peers.

FORMER FIRST LADY COLUMBA BUSH LAUNCHES 2009-2010 ARTS FOR LIFE! SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM


To be considered for an Arts for Life! Scholarship, students must:

• Be graduating high school seniors from a public, private or home education program in Florida in 2010.

• Submit a completed application, a brief essay explaining “How the arts have positively influenced my life” and a sample of work in creative writing, dance, drama, music or visual arts.

A committee of judges for each of the five disciplines, comprised of respected experts, reviews and scores the students’ essays and work samples. Each committee selects the top scoring applicants as recipients of an Arts for Life! scholarship.

Winning seniors will be notified in the spring and invited to a special luncheon in their honor hosted by Jeb and Columba Bush. Recipients are invited to showcase their arts discipline through performance and exhibition during the event. As part of the program’s professional development program, the scholarship recipients will also meet renowned working artists who will provide invaluable advice for pursuing a career in the arts.

Applications must be postmarked no later than February 1, 2010. Minorities in Medicine Symposium - FREE w/ lunch!!

Are you interested in studying medicine? If so, check out the UNF/Mayo Clinic Minorities in Medicine Symposium on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the Mayo Clinic, 4500 San Pablo Road. Lunch will be provided for you.

2 or more parking tickets = your car getting towed!!

Any student who has received at least two parking tickets for parking without a decal or parking illegally will have their cars towed the next time they have a violation. Anyone who has their car towed must contact ASAP Towing to retrieve it. Do not contact the main office!


Help Us to Help the Needy


The Junior Civitans are holding a food drive to support a local charity for the holiday season. Please bring your canned or dry goods to school and help out a family in need. Donations can be given to classroom teachers or in the food barrel in the front office. Thanks for your help!

TAKE THE ASVAB! It's not just for the Armed Forces, you know...

Sophomores, juniors and seniors…are you curious about what you might be good at? Don’t know what you want to study in college or what to do after high school? Then take the ASVAB! Fill out a counselor request form with "sign me up for the ASVAB!" if you are interested - the test will be administered Thursday, November 19th at 7:45am at Ed White in Houston Hall.



Donate Blood at Ed White!


Ed White will host a blood drive on Monday November 23rd from 8:00 to 1:00. See Coach Gwynes in student activities for more information and to make an appointment. A government issued ID is required to donate.
