Applicants must:
- be a member or dependent of a member of Community First Credit Union with an account in good standing for at least one year
- be an entering freshman college student and under the age of 24 at the application deadline
- demonstrate leadership ability and financial need
- attend a two- or four-year public or private accredited Florida college or university
- have a high school grade point average of at least 3.0 (unweighted) plus a minimum ACT score of 24 or SAT score of 1110
- fill out and return the scholarship application by March 1st
Recipient may continue the scholarship on an annual basis until graduation, not exceed four years. A GPA of or at least 2.5 the freshman year and 3.0 each succeeding year are required for continued eligibility.
Selection is based on:
- Academic qualifications
- Financial need - applicants must include completed free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA!)
- Interview with applicant
- Essay - 200 words or less explaining how the scholarship will help the applicant attain his or her educational and financial goals
- Letters of recommendation - must submit a letter from two of the following people: high school principal, teacher, or guidance counselor; religious or civic leader; and/or current or former employer
- Community and Leadership activities - includes honors and awards
