Bank of America's Student Leaders Program
Since its inception in 2004, the Bank of America Student Leaders Program has recognized more than 1,400 exemplary high school juniors and seniors with a passion for improving their communities. The program’s goal is to cultivate and develop the next generation of community leaders through two components:

- An 8-week paid internship in the summer of 2011 with selected nonprofit organizations designed to provide opportunities for the students to develop and apply leadership skills through hands-on work experience, while raising their awareness of community issues addressed by their Nonprofit Host Organization.
- A week-long all-expense paid Student Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C., July 17-22. Conducted in partnership with the Close Up Foundation, the Summit introduces students to aspects of civic, nonprofit and business leadership and provides them with knowledge and skills they will use throughout their life to create positive community change.

Description:
The Jesse Brown Memorial Youth Scholarship Program encourages young volunteers to play active roles in the Department of Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service (VAVS) programs. It recognizes outstanding young volunteers who give of their time by awarding annual scholarships that may be used to continue their education. The Disabled American Veterans has awarded 87 scholarships worth $578,000 since the inception of the Jesse Brown Memorial Youth Scholarship Program in 2000.

The J. Ollie Edmunds Distinguished Scholarship Program at Stetson University seeks students who demonstrate a balance of the following qualities:

The Point Foundation LGBT Scholarship
Point Foundation is the nation’s largest scholarship-granting organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students of merit. Individuals enrolled in either an undergraduate or graduate program, beginning or continuing in the fall of 2011, are eligible to apply.
Who qualifies for a Point Scholarship?
Applicants should visit Point’s website to review current Point Scholars’ biographies and assess the type of scholars that are generally selected. Applicants do not need straight A’s to apply, yet Point is looking for individuals who have proven leadership skills, excellent scholastic achievements, and want to make a difference in the world. All applicants are evaluated on the totality of their situation including academic accomplishments, financial, leadership within extra-curricular and career-related activities, personal circumstances and goals for the future.

FAPSC Scholarship Program

University of North Florida Admissions Updates
CHANGES IN STATE UNIVERSITY ADMISSIONS:
The State of Florida has implemented new minimum admission standards for freshman applicants to all Florida state universities. In order to be considered, students must have a minimum 2.5 recalculated GPA and meet minimum test score requirements (460 SAT Critical Reading, 460 SAT Math, 440 SAT Writing; or 19 ACT Reading, 19 ACT Math, 18 ACT English/Writing) Please keep in mind that these standards only outline potential eligibility for admission to a state university. UNF's admission criteria for 2011 depends on the applicant pool and will be higher than these minimums.

Annual Bank of America/NCWIT Scholarship Award
This award has been modified slightly and renamed The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing. The award honors young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests. Awardees are selected for their computing and IT aptitude, leadership ability, academic history, and plans for post-secondary education. Description:
Essay must be typed, or prepared on a computer or word processor, using black type in a non-script font no smaller than 12 point or larger than 14 point. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity's MLK Oratorical Contest
The Upsilon Lambda Chapter of
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., 3rd annual Rev.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Oratorical Breakfast Contest will be held
on February
19, 2011 (9am-11:30pm) at the
University Center
on the campus of The University of North Florida. The first place
winner will be awarded a $1500.00 academic scholarship to the college of
his choice.
The competition is open to
male high school graduating seniors throughout Duval, Clay, Nassau and
St. Johns Counties. There will be eight finalists competing during the
program consisting of high school male students.
The finalists will be selected based on submitted essays to deliver their speeches to the members of the Martin Luther
King Jr. Oratorical Breakfast Committee. The preliminary competition
will be held at the James Weldon Johnson YMCA,
in the Ezekial Bryant Conference Room
on December 11, 2010. Speeches must have original content and
cannot exceed more than
800 words (minimum 4-maximum 6
minutes).The
MLK Oratorical Committee will then determine which contestants will
compete at the event on
February 19, 2011.

deadline for students to submit their applications and essay.
The first place recipient will be
awarded a
$1,500
academic scholarship to the college of his choice. The second place
recipient will be awarded a
$1,000 academic
scholarship to the college of his choice. The third place recipient

Monday's Scholarship of the Day: Critical Language
Description:
The U.S. Department of State’s Critical Languages Scholarship (CLS) program is part of an effort to expand the number of Americans studying and mastering critical need foreign languages. The Alliance for Global Education is pleased to announce that we have has been chosen to administer two of the sites in China in conjunction with American Councils for International Education. Students who are awarded the full scholarship will study intensive Chinese in Summer 2010 in Beijing (Beijing Language and Culture University) or Shanghai (Fudan University). Classes will be offered at the intermediate or advanced level. During the 8-week program, students will enroll in 20 hours per week of Chinese language, live with Chinese roommates (Shanghai) or host families (Beijing), have a peer language tutor, and participate in organized activities and excursions. All program fees, round-trip air travel, meals, activities and excursions will be covered by the scholarship.

The Alliance for Global Education is pleased to announce that we have has been chosen to administer two of the sites in China in conjunction with American Councils for International Education. Students who are awarded the full scholarship will study intensive Chinese in Summer 2010 in Beijing (Beijing Language and Culture University) or Shanghai (Fudan University). Classes will be offered at the intermediate or advanced level. During the 8-week program, students will enroll in 20 hours per week of Chinese language, live with Chinese roommates (Shanghai) or host families (Beijing), have a peer language tutor, and participate in organized activities and excursions. All program fees, round-trip air travel, meals, activities and excursions will be covered by the scholarship.

8th Annual Willie E. Gary Classic College and Vocational Recruiting Fair
What: Students and parents are invited to the 8th Annual Willie Gary Classic College and Vocational Recruiting Fair. College and University admission representatives from around the country will be on site to discuss their school programs and admissions process.
There will also be three workshops that will answer important questions regarding choosing a major, taking the SAT or ACT, and information on financial aid.
