VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY!

The event: P.E.P. Rally for Excellence
Saturday June 1
When:             10:00 AM - 1:00 PM   (Volunteers report at 9:30)
Where:            Metropolitan Park, 1410 Gator Bowl Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32202
What:              Parents, students, teachers and citizens are all invited to this community-wide event to focus on public education reforms, strategies, advocacy and student achievement.  This educational resource and innovation fair includes:
·         Public education workshops & presentations
·         DCPS's Annual Reading Celebration/WJCT's Share a Story
·         Student recognition programs
·         Business partnership opportunities
·         Family friendly activities & wellness information
·         Entertainment, interactive booths & giveaways

WJCT is participating the event above with 6 of our PBS characters (like Cat in the Hat, Clifford, Curious George & the Man in the Yellow Hat, etc.).  We have volunteer spots for 25 student volunteers and would welcome any of you who would like to earn community service volunteer hours. Volunteers will be manning and handling our 6 costume characters.  We hope to have enough volunteers that each would only do two or three, 15 min shifts in the costume.  We also need help with the craft table area so volunteers may rotate between costume and crafts.  It looks like it will be a fun day!  Volunteer hours will still count for Bright Futures if entered before graduation. And of course juniors can get a jump start on their hours for next year.

Thank you,
