CollegeWeek Live

CollegeWeekLive is a free online college fair and admissions event website. Thirteen students from Edward White High School attended events on our website this fall. I would love to set up a time to talk with you to give you more information about CollegeWeekLive and to find out what materials would be best to email to you to help you get the word out about our spring events. CollegeWeekLive is offering a monthly $1,000 scholarship to students who attend our events; the more they attend, the higher their chances are! Make sure to have your students check out these following events:

Date	Event	Description
January 12	Paying for College	Sponsored by the US Department of Education and supported by over 175 leading colleges and universities, this event will help families understand their options for affording a college education.
February 9	Test Prep	Experts in the test preparation field will present SAT, PSAT and ACT tips and tricks via video chat. In addition, representatives from over 175 colleges and universities will be available for text and video chats.
February 14	Florida Colleges Day	Learn more about in-state vs. out of state tuition and join schools like Miami Dade College, University of South Florida, and the University of Florida.
March 21 - 22	CWL Spring	Featuring over 350 colleges and universities, CollegeWeekLive SPRING is the biggest event of the season! Students have the opportunity to connect with admissions reps, live video chat with current college students, and ask questions of admissions experts during this two day events.
April 24	Health Sciences Day	Students looking to enter the Health Sciences or in the STEM field will find colleges and universities who specialize in these specific majors. Learn more about these fields and potential career opportunities.
May 3	Study Abroad Day	Discover the advantages of traveling abroad for your college education. Watch presentations from experts on subjects such as affordability of getting an international degree and chat live with international colleges and universities during this unique event.

How do I see my counselor?

WALK-INS WELCOME!

Before or after school you can always come by to see us! Especially if you aren't trying to catch a bus. If you are a bus rider, the best way to see us is to make an appointment.

APPOINTMENTS ENCOURAGED!
We want to give you our UNDIVIDED attention and with the number of tasks a school counselor has, that can be difficult when walking in or simply stopping by. Student Counselor Request Forms can be picked up in guidance (before or after school or between classes) and dropped off in guidance (before or after school or between classes). They sit on Ms. Menter's desk. Simply fill one out, leave it for us and we will be sure to call you out of class!

2-1-1

United Way 2-1-1 is the suicide intervention and prevention helpline for this region and the call center is nationally accredited by the American Association of Suicidology. Call center specialists are also certified and trained to handle crisis and suicide-related calls.

MISSION

Our mission as School Counselors at Edward H. White High School is to provide a comprehensive counseling program that attends to the personal/social, academic, and career preparation/college planning needs of all students. Services include group and individual counseling, academic support (educational resources), responsive services, career and college planning, and student and family advocacy. Our goal is to promote a commitment to life-long learning, personal and academic growth, and to aid students in becoming responsible, culturally aware and productive members of society. This foundation will be supported and further strengthened by consultation with educators, administrators, parents, and community advocates.

PHILOSOPHY

The school counseling department at Edward H. White High School believes that every student should be treated with dignity and value. We will strive on a daily basis to provide services to all students through a comprehensive school counseling program.

The comprehensive school counseling program at Edward H. White High is:

Fundamentally based on the belief that all of our students can learn and achieve at their highest potential with proper support from staff, parents/guardians and the community
Planned and implemented by the Edward H. White School Counseling Department, based on guidelines from the Duval County Public School’s Office of Guidance Services and all stakeholders who support the academic, career and personal/social development of students
Committed to providing a comprehensive, developmentally sound program of services based on the ASCA national model to meet the needs of our diverse population and evaluated by data driven models
Proactive in the delivery of the Edward H. White High School Counseling Curriculum and in monitoring student’s academic, career, and personal/social achievements
