ATTENTION PARENTS & STUDENTS!

Much has been said about how anything posted on the internet lasts forever and the many ways in which Facebook posts can come back to haunt you, but teens in particular don’t seem to be getting the message. Now, poor online choices can result in a college rejection letter: Kaplan Test Prep’s survey found that 24% of universities view publicly available pages for background information on applicants, and that when inappropriate content is discovered, it can serve as a basis for rejection.
Be sure to share with your student(s) these and other potentially long-lasting ramifications of bad online behavior. If you are using Career Choices, remind them of the decision-making process covered in Chapter 6 and point out that critical thinking can comes in handy even when making everyday decisions that seem small or incidental.
