Accounting Careers and Money Program

Dates and Locations June 13-15 – University of North Florida, Jacksonville June 20-22 – Miami Dade College, Miami June 27-29 – Florida Southern College, Lakeland July 13-15 – University of South Florida, Tampa
This fun and interactive three-day “daytime” program is aimed at top-performing students in high school and college. Students will explore accounting and career opportunities through classroom presentations, hands-on activities, a case study, and field trips.
Program Goals
  • Increase awareness of accounting and business careers;
  • Learn accounting and business concepts through structured activities;
  • Increase skills in leadership and communication;
  • Increase skills and knowledge in personal finance; and,
  • Acquaint students with the college experience.
Eligibility The program is open to students of any ethnic or socio-economic status who are interested in business and accounting. To be eligible to attend, students must currently be classified as a high school junior or senior or a freshman attending a two-year college. Though not a requirement, we suggest students have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The target attendance is 25-30 students. Students must be nominated by a teacher.
Deadline The application deadline is Monday, May 16, 2011.

Hours Hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. On-site supervision is available from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for students being dropped off/ picked up
Cost There is a $20 registration fee. (Payment instructions will be provided once the student is selected to attend.)
Lunch, snacks, instructional materials, and other program-related expenses will be provided by the FICPA. However, students will need to provide their own transportation to and from the hosting university.
Notification Teachers and students will receive confirmation of the application and final notice of acceptance. Students selected to attend will receive information regarding the program agenda, location, time, parking instructions, on-site contacts, and more.
Scholarships One student (current senior or college freshman) from each campus site will be selected to receive a $500 scholarship.
