GIRL OF THE YEAR

Girls Inc. of Jacksonville (GIJ) celebration of Girls' Rights Week is a national observance to raise awareness of girls' blazing trails, defying stereotypes and asserting their rights.
Their 2011 celebration includes honoring girls in our community in the 5th, 8th and 12th grades, who have outstanding achievements in the areas of academics, arts and athletics. Schools and community organizations are encouraged to submit an application detailing a girl's accomplishments from the 2010-2011 school year.
In efforts to make a strong application, the following areas should be addressed and included in the one page narrative:
  • student academic standing
  • citizenship and leadership
  • accomplishments in their area of focus: academic, arts or athletics
Also required:
  • letter of recommendation
  • letter(s) of support
The written application is due FRIDAY, MARCH 25, 2011 by 5PM to Girls Inc. The selected girl will be recognized at our Girls Rights Week Reception on May 5, 2011 at the University Club.
