2011 Coast Guard Foundation Scholarships - Open Season!

Dependent children of enlisted Coast Guard personnel on active duty, retired or deceased are eligible to compete for these scholarships. Dependent children of enlisted reserve members' currently on active duty are also eligible to compete for these scholarships. The scholarships are provided by private benefactors: the RADM Arnold Sobel Endowment Fund, the Coast Guard Foundation Scholarship Fund, the CDR Ronald J. Cantin Scholarship Fund, the CDR Daniel J. Christovich Scholarship Fund, the Westbrook Scholarship Fund, and the Clay Maitland Coast Guard Foundation Scholarship. Scholarships range from $2,500 to $5,000 per year. Applicants must apply via one Coast Guard Foundation scholarship application packet, individual Coast Guard Scholarship application forms will not be accepted without supporting documentation. Applicants must create and submit a scholarship application packet which includes the following documents:
  • Coast Guard Foundation Scholarship Application Form (CG-6054); a Coast Guard Foundation Financial Aid Form (CG-6054);
  • a letter of recommendation from a school official;
  • one sealed copy of high school transcripts;
  • an essay (500 words or less) explaining how the scholarship would support your educational endeavors as well as your motivation, moral character, leadership, citizenship and scholastic promise;
  • a letter of acceptance from a school or college the student plans to attend;
  • and a copy of college entrance scores to apply for these scholarships.
Applicants may not apply to individual scholarships. Application packets must include original signed documents plus four legible copies of all required documentation, with the exception of official transcripts. Submit one sealed transcript in the application packet. Applications packets must arrive in this office on or before Friday, April 1, 2011. Late application packets will not be accepted. Application packets postmarked on Friday, April 1, 2011 will not be accepted.
