Universal Teen Scholarship Program

The Universal Teen Scholarship Program was established by the Women of Color Cultural Foundation, Inc. in 2005. The objectives of this scholarship program are to:
  • Provide a forum to teach life skills.
  • Promote awareness of cultural diversity and respect for human differences.
  • Empower young men and women to realize and embrace their inner beauty and self worth.
  • Provide financial assistance with post high school education towards achieving their professional goals.
Students participate in Saturday workshops facilitated by community partners and supporting organizations over a ten-week period. Orientation is on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at WJCT Public Television Station’s Conference Room. Workshops include but are not limited to:
  • Essay Writing
  • Resume writing, completing a job application and personal growth
  • Career Development
  • Public Speaking
  • Financial Management and Budgeting
  • Business Dress/Interview
  • Cultural Diversity
  • Etiquette Training at a five star restaurant
The culminating event will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at the Ritz Theatre and LaVilla Museum.
