Delta Sigma Theta Scholarship

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., is an organization dedicated to aiding in the education of talented youth. Each year, we award five $2000 college scholarships; one Leadership Scholarship and four Academic Scholarships.
Below find the requirements for each scholarship as well as the application. We wish you continued success!
WINONA CARGYLE ALEXANDER (W.C.A.) LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
• Applicant must be an African-American female or male.
• Must have a minimum acceptable G.P.A. between 2.5 and 3.29.
• Must demonstrate community involvement and leadership ability.
• Must reside in Duval County and have a need for financial assistance.
• Must graduate from high school at the end of the 2009-2010 academic school year.
• Must attend an accredited institution of higher education after graduation.
• Must have taken the SAT and/or the ACT and submit proof with the application.
• Must provide an official high school transcript.
• Must have three (3) letters of recommendation: One (1) letter must be from a high school staff member, one (1) letter must be from a Community Service Organization in which you have performed community service, and one (1) that attests to your leadership ability. All three letters must be signed and on the appropriate organization’s letterhead.
• Must submit an essay of 750 words or less. The essay must describe the attributes you possess that make you a leader and include specific examples of your leadership ability. The essay should also include a discussion of your need for financial assistance.
• Must participate in an interview before the Scholarship Committee. A member of the Scholarship Committee will contact you to schedule your interview.

ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS:

• Must submit two (2) letters of recommendation: One (1) letter must be from a high school staff member and one (1) letter must be from a Community Service Organization. Both letters must be signed and on the appropriate organization’s letterhead.
• Must submit an essay of 750 words or less. The essay must include a description of your academic and extracurricular achievements (including your active participation in the community). The essay should also include a discussion of your need for financial assistance.
• Must participate in an interview before the Scholarship Committee. A member of the Scholarship Committee will contact you to schedule your interview.
