**Volunteers Needed** (get community service hours!)

Urban Tree Ranger

When: Saturday, January 16, 2010

Time: 9:00 am—12:00 pm

Where: Southside Boulevard

This is the award winning event that invites volunteers to spend a Saturday morning learning how to improve the health and appearance of trees. Following a brief presentation, volunteers are divided into groups under the supervision of forestry professionals. The fun begins with hands-on instruction as we provide the care our city trees need to survive and flourish. Volunteers should bring pruning tools and work gloves. As work will be close to a highway, no one under the age of fourteen may participate. Volunteers will receive an informative pruning booklet and a special t-shirt. This is a fee free event, but registration is recommended. Call 398-5757 or email to RSVP. (check in will begin at 8:30 a.m.)
Directions: On Southside Boulevard, turn east on Ivey Road at the pedestrian overpass. Volunteers may park at Southside Estates Elementary School and proceed to the community park located at the foot of the overpass on Southside Boulevard for check in.
