9th Annual Teen Entrepreneurship Conference

Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from UNF.
The It’s HER Business Teen Entrepreneurship Conference is a one-day conference for girls ages 15-18 enrolled in high school. We are now in our 9th year. This event brings parents, students, school administration, and women business owners together in one forum and has so far exposed over 800 young women to a whole new world of opportunities.
It is designed to encourage financial literacy and help girls learn about starting businesses and managing personal finances through interactive games and hands-on activities. We use successful local business women as conference facilitators/mentors to share their ideas and experiences with the participants.
• Must be 15-18 years of age and enrolled in a Duval, Clay, or St. Johns County High School to attend.
• Both Forms must be either e-mailed/scanned to: mhague@unf.edu, faxed to: (904) 620-2567 OR mailed to: Marice Hague, Small Business Development Center at UNF; 12000 Alumni Drive; Jacksonville, FL 32224 by Friday, February 1, 2014. The forms are also located online.
• Only a limited amount of students will be accepted.

The world will focus its attention on Jacksonville when One Spark, the
World's Crowdfunding Festival, convenes to showcase the future in the areas of
Art, Innovation, Music, Science and Technology. And for the first time, The
Schultz Center's #EDSPARK venue will house all of the Projects proposed
by students under the age of 18, along with Projects featuring
innovations in education and learning proposed by educators, families and
others interested in enhancing student achievement.

Scholarship for students with ADHD!

Who Can Apply
The scholarship program is for individuals in the United States who:
- have been diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- are accepted to or will be enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college, university, trade school, technical school, or vocational school
- under the care of a licensed health care professional for ADHD

The Anchor Scholarship is available to dependents of service members who have served a minimum of six years in a unit under the administrative control of Commander, Naval Surface Forces, U.S. Atlantic Fleet or U.S. Pacific Fleet. You must attend, or plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university and intend to work toward a BS or BA degree to be eligible for this award.

from St. Nicholas Decorating Party:

Join as we transform a normal
community school into a magical wonderland for the children who attend. We will
deck the halls with gold tinsel and place backpacks on the desks of each child
at the school for them to discover the following morning. This is a rewarding
opportunity for all! We recommend you wear shoes that you can move up and down
the halls in!

Volunteer for a Visit
from St. Nicholas Discovery Day:
Friday December 6th
7:45 am
On the morning of December
6th, the children of selected local elementary schools will arrive to a magical
surprise. Their school will be decorated with gold tinsel and upon arrival to
their classroom; they will find a new backpack filled with books and toys!
Volunteers will then visit classrooms and read our story of St. Nick to
children and share messages of kindness and anonymous giving. This is such a
special moment for all parties; volunteer, child and teacher. Volunteers will
arrive and check-in at a predetermined meeting area at the school. A light
breakfast and coffee will be prepared for volunteers. Your school's Project
Leader will instruct volunteers on classroom assignments. Depending on the
number of volunteers, you may be asked to read to more than one classroom.
Please dress appropriately for school and we invite you to be festive!

Be a Project Leader:
Project leaders are present
at Decorating Party and Discovery Day. There primary role is to get everyone
signed in and delegate tasks to the volunteers. There is a Project Leader
Training for all new Project Leaders on Monday, December 2nd at 10 am, 12 pm, 2
pm and 4 pm at the HandsOn Jacksonville Office, 6817 Southpoint Pkwy, Ste 1902.
Training should run about 30 to 45 minutes. If you are interested in being a
Project Leader please contact Jenny O'Donnell - jenny@handsonjacksonville.org
Be St. Nicholas:
St. Nick is the jolly green
giant who dresses up in a St. Nick costume and it placed at one of our schools
on the morning of December 6th at 7:45 am. St. Nick visits each classroom and
distributes a kindness coin to every child and shares messages of kindness,
anonymous giving and charity. Anyone interested in being a St. Nick
