Description:
The Ron Brown Scholar Program seeks to identify African-American high school seniors who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need. The scholarship application asks some fairly basic questions (what age division did you play in? what colleges were you accepted at? why do you deserve this scholarship?) that need short answers, it requires a letter of recommendation from a person who “has influenced your life”, and, if you have one handy, it will probably be a good idea to attach a resume along with your application.

The PinkRose Foundation is a really wonderful non-profit organization that supports the educational endeavors of people who have been affected by breast cancer. Since 2003, the PinkRose Foundation has awarded 82 scholarships of $1,000 each to students who have lost a parent to breast cancer.

Need a schedule change?
ALL SCHEDULE CHANGE REQUEST FORMS ARE DUE BY FRIDAY, AUGUST 26th.
ALL STUDENTS HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO FILL OUT A SCHEDULE CHANGE REQUEST FORM (TO BE OBTAINED FROM THEIR 1st OR 5th PERIOD TEACHERS) AND SUBMIT THAT REQUEST IN THEIR MOD OFFICE. THE COUNSELORS WILL THEN REVIEW AND RESPOND TO EACH REQUEST BY SEPTEMBER 2nd.
Schedule changes will be granted if:
- You have not met the pre-requisite for the course (i.e. you were mistakenly put into Spanish 2 when you have not yet taken Spanish 1)
- You have already passed that course (i.e. you went to summer school after your schedule was made)
- You are a senior (4th year student) and are missing a class required for graduation (i.e. you need your 2nd World Language, 4th math/science course)
