Application Process
Eligibility: Application Process
Pursuing a degree in a four-year accredited college or university, financial need, LGBT public high school senior in the United States or Federal, and top fourth of the graduating class.
A $2,000 scholarship ($1,000 paid the first semester and renewable for the next semester) shall be awarded to a student who is a change agent, having leadership potential, and ranks in the top 25% of their graduating class. Financial need will be given strong consideration. Noteworthy accomplishments in student government, clubs, work experience is desirable, but not required. The GPA of 3.0 must be maintained to retain the scholarship for the second semester. The second half of the scholarship will be sent to their college upon receipt of the first semester's transcripts.

- Home information, including parents' or guardians' yearly income, home address, phone number, e-mail
- 2-page essay: "My Life as a GLBT Student and the Role Models who Shaped it"
- 2 letters of recommendation
- Signature of authenticity including authorization of publishing the name in local, state, national, gay papers, and NEA publications (Your name does not need to be published to be considered.)
Time-line:
A typed application (see below) must be post-marked and received no later than May 1st. All information listed on the application process must accompany the application. Any missing information will result in the application being disqualified. The scholarship recipient will be contacted in May by e-mail to acknowledge receipt of the application. The winner will be notified in July after the NEA RA. Good luck to all applicants!
