$500 Grant to New Youth Service Clubs - deadline: May 16

Through the generous support of the Prudential Spirit of Community Initiative, generationOn is giving out $500 grants to new youth service clubs. Register a generationOn Service Club for middle school-age youth between April 1, 2014 and May 16, 2014 and become eligible to apply for the $500 start-up grant to get your club going in the 2014-2015 school year. Adult facilitators or youth members (ages 13+) can apply.

GenerationOn Service Clubs are groups of young people in schools, community and faith-based organizations, volunteer centers and existing youth development organizations who implement meaningful hands-on service projects locally, nationally and globally. Clubs selected to receive grants will be notified on or around May 30, 2014 and must complete and report back on at least one service project by November 28, 2014. Applications are due by May 16, 2014 at 5pm EDT.

Applications for the “Living in a Material World” grant from the ASM Foundation Teacher Grants can be submitted by kindergarten – 12^th-grade teachers now through May 25^th. The grant award ranges up to $500. These grants are intended to enhance awareness of materials science and the role of materials scientists in society. 2011 GRADY-RAYAM PRIZE Vocal Competitons

“a vocal competition in the individual performance of arranged Negro spirituals, to provide African-American senior high school students a chance to earn tuition assistance grants for college matriculation”
PRIZE
A tuition assistance grant in the amount of $3,000 and a cash prize in the amount of $300 will be awarded to adjudged first place winners in the separate categories of Female Vocalist and Male Vocalist. A tuition assistance grant in the amount of $2,000 and a cash prizes in the amount of  $200 will be awarded to adjudged second place winners in the same categories. Grant monies are supplied directly to an accredited institution of higher learning where a winner is actually accepted and enrolled within two years of date of graduation from high school. A cash prize in the amount of $100 will be awarded to each remaining entrant selected as a finalists. All participants will be recognized for their achievement with certificates.
ELIGIBILITY
Senior high students (grades 11-12) of Afro-ethnic heritage who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents currently attending an accredited school in any district of the state of Florida are eligible. Individuals who are currently contracted with musical or theatrical professional management are not eligible. Previous recipients of and GRADY-RAYAM PRIZE tuition assistance grant are not eligible to return to competition.
