Leaders on Fast Track (LOFT) and the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) are taking applications for the 2013 ESA LOFT Video Game Innovation Fellowship.

HHF's career development program, LOFT, has partnered with ESA to launch a national program aimed at bringing more youth of color into the gaming industry and helping them confront problems in their community through technology. Apply here now!

The program will identify 20 African American/Latino(a) youth, ages 16-24, to develop a video game that deals with social issues.
Fellows will receive:
  • $1,000 innovation grant
  • An all-expenses paid trip to D.C., where each fellow will present their game to key investors
  • Direct project coaching from Hispanic Heritage Foundation and ESA gaming associates
  • Employment opportunities through ESA
  • A chance to meet White House congressional representatives and the US Cyber Command
  • A chance to participate in Congressional Black Caucus and Congressional Hispanic Caucus activities
If you know technically skilled young people ready to make a difference through technology, tell them to apply now or email fellow@loftinstitute.org for more information.

At the core of the ESA LOFT Video Game Innovation Fellowship is the belief that using technology for social change in education, community service, civic engagement, mentoring, leadership, and creative expression is essential to the development of the minority communities. This program will also leverage the video gaming industry and HHF with effective platforms to address the White House, Congress and other educational communities and influencers.

Kids Together Against Cancer. Support for families dealing with a parent's cander journey.
 photo taken by Ingrid Damiani

Time to Register
 for the New 5 week
KTAC Sessions...

As a parent with cancer, one of the hardest things to do when you are diagnosed is talk to your family.

You may ask yourself, "How much should I tell them? I don't want to scare my children, but I don't want to lie to them either."
·  You may be unclear what your child understands, "My son never says anything to me about my cancer."
·  If you question "Am I going to die from this?", your child may be quietly worried too.

Kids Together Against Cancer's five week program is child and parent focused in a positive and fun environment.

Art Educators, from the Cummer Museum of Art, help children create beautiful art projects to help express their feelings.

Licensed Oncology Social Workers guide adult group discussion to help families cope with the cancer diagnosis.

DATES:

 Tuesday May 28th
 Tuesday June 4th
 Tuesday June 11th
 Tuesday June 18th
Tuesday June 25th-Celebration at the Cummer Museum
