SENIORS: Stokes Educational Scholarship

The Stokes Educational Scholarship Program's purpose is to facilitate the recruitment of individuals, particularly minority high school students, who have demonstrated skills critical to National Security Agency. 

Stokes provides a tremendous opportunity to gain valuable experience in your field while attending college and getting a degree. Stokes is open to high school seniors planning on majoring in computer science or computer/electrical engineering.

Eligible students must maintain a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale after their freshman year.) If selected as a program participant, you are required to work in your area of study for NSA after your college graduation for at least one-and-one-half times the length of study.

• Transcripts and test scores do not appear as received on the Online Status Check instantaneously! With the volume of mail and electronic transcripts that we are receiving, it can take as long as 15 business days before mail is received and the Online Status Check is updated.
• Please refrain from sending duplicate transcripts (electronic or hard copy) unless it has been more than 15 business days since you sent the last one. Duplicate transcripts add to our volume and will only delay the processing.
• Electronic transcripts speed up our processing time, so for all my public high school friends in Florida, please send electronic transcripts!
• Forgive us in advance if it takes longer to respond to your calls and emails. We will get to you as quickly as we can, and we appreciate your patience.
• Please know, just like we always have, we will work with you and your students after the deadline to complete any student's application that (through no fault of the student) was unable to be completed by our deadline.

Make a Difference Day At Everbank Field

Time:   9:00 am—12:00 pm

Where:   Everbank Field (foot of the Matthews Bridge)

 This is the award winning event that invites volunteers to spend a Saturday morning learning how to improve the health and appearance of trees and participate in clean up of the area surrounding Everbank Field. Following a brief presentation, volunteers are divided into groups under the supervision of forestry professionals. The fun begins with hands-on instruction as we provide the care our city trees need to survive and flourish. Volunteers should bring pruning tools and work gloves. As work will be close to a highway, no one under the age of fourteen may participate. Volunteers will receive an informative pruning booklet and a special t-shirt. This is a fee free event, but registration is recommended.   Call 398-5757 or email greenscape@bellsouth.net to RSVP. How this works:

All 16 schools will build a team of 15 people.  Each participant will bowl two games at a cost of $20.00 (Shoes Free!!!).  Schools can have as many bowlers as they want but must have a minimum of 15.  Each bowler will pledge an amount to be used to calculate their donation to be paid based on their individual score per game.  Each bowler can bowl as many additional games as they would like at a cost of $10 per game. At the end of each game the bowler calculates their donation based on their score times their pledge.  The value of the game is then placed in their respective canister.

Remember, this is a fundraiser for saving the sports that are getting cut because of the budget short fall, so please show your support.

2011 Hispanic Heritage Month Contests


TALLAHASSEE – Governor Rick Scott and First Lady Ann Scott today invited students in kindergarten through 12th grades to participate in the Hispanic Heritage Month art and essay contests. They also invited students, parents, teachers and principals to nominate full-time Hispanic educators in elementary, middle or high schools for the Hispanic Heritage Month Excellence in Education Award.

Several Latin American countries celebrate the anniversaries of independence during Hispanic Heritage Month. Scholarship for those affected by breast cancer...

Applications for the $10,000 scholarships will be accepted from September 15th, 2011 – November 15th, 2011. These awards aid college students facing significant financial burdens due to the loss of a parent (or guardian) to breast cancer or their own breast cancer diagnosis at age 25 or younger.
The scholarship awards $10,000 per year (for up to four years) to a student to attend a state university in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree. Komen scholarship recipients are selected based on scholastic achievement, community service, financial need and demonstrated leadership potential. Scholarship recipients serve as Komen Collegiate Ambassadors and must volunteer their time to breast cancer awareness activities for at least 20 hours per semester.

2. You have already passed that course (i.e. you went to summer school after your schedule was made)
