The Upsilon Lambda Chapter of
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., 3rd annual Rev.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Oratorical Breakfast Contest will be held
on February
19, 2011 (9am-11:30pm) at the
University Center
on the campus of The University of North Florida. The first place
winner will be awarded a $1500.00 academic scholarship to the college of
his choice.
The competition is open to
male high school graduating seniors throughout Duval, Clay, Nassau and
St. Johns Counties. There will be eight finalists competing during the
program consisting of high school male students.
The finalists will be selected based on submitted essays to deliver their speeches to the members of the Martin Luther
King Jr. Oratorical Breakfast Committee. The preliminary competition
will be held at the James Weldon Johnson YMCA,
in the Ezekial Bryant Conference Room
on December 11, 2010. Speeches must have original content and
cannot exceed more than
800 words (minimum 4-maximum 6
minutes).The
MLK Oratorical Committee will then determine which contestants will
compete at the event on
February 19, 2011.
Please review the enclosed rules and guidelines which include a
deadline for students to submit their applications and essay.
The first place recipient will be
awarded a
$1,500
academic scholarship to the college of his choice. The second place
recipient will be awarded a
$1,000 academic
scholarship to the college of his choice. The third place recipient
will be awarded a
$500.00 book
voucher to the college of his choice. The recipients of these education
awards must present an acceptance letter from the college of their
choice before the education award can be presented.
Tickets to attend this extraordinary
event will
be $30.00 which includes a breakfast and a Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr. Memorial information package.
There is
no cost for students selected to compete.

This award has been modified slightly and renamed The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing. The award honors young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests. Awardees are selected for their computing and IT aptitude, leadership ability, academic history, and plans for post-secondary education. The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing offers both a national and local "affiliate" competitions to generate support and visibility for women's participation in communities nationwide. They are proud to announce 18 Affiliate Award programs serving 19 states and US territories in the 2010/2011 round, including Puerto Rico.
Indiana Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (IAHPERD) Award
Essay must be typed, or prepared on a computer or word processor, using black type in a non-script font no smaller than 12 point or larger than 14 point. A limited vision student may use Braille, a tape recorder, or very large type. In this case, a written transcript must be included, as well as a teacher’s or physician’s letter attesting to the student’s special need.
Fund for Education Abroad (FEA)
Purpose:
The Undergraduate Exchange Program (U.E.P.) supports students from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Moldova, Serbia, and Ukraine in the United States for one-year of non-degree academic studies and service learning and one subsequent year in their home country leading a community service* project of their own design.

ASCP is again partnering with Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics to award
a total of $185,000 in scholarships to clinical laboratory students
(download PDF of the poster). The purpose of these scholarships is to
help defray education costs, promote medical laboratory science as a
rewarding career, and to help address the workforce shortage of
qualified professionals.
