GO! Volunteer Abroad Scholarship

Description:
GO! Overseas is proud to support international volunteers through our GO! Volunteer Abroad Scholarship program. Anyone participating in a volunteer program abroad is eligible to apply for the GO! Volunteer Abroad Scholarship. Scholarships are awarded each year. The scholarship is awarded based on the creativity and analytical thinking displayed through writing samples and/or video submissions.

Service Leadership Seminar:
Service Leadership Seminar (SLS) is a four and a half day, free seminar that provides incoming freshmen with the opportunity to explore leadership and community engagement in their new collegiate atmosphere. The Social Change Model of Leadership is introduced and provides the foundation for the seminar and allows students to learn about leadership in the contexts of individuals, groups, and communities. Through participation in community service projects, workshops, speakers, a challenge course, as well as interaction with campus leaders, SLS participants begin discovering their own path for creating positive sustainable change while at Florida State and beyond.

GRIEF RELIEF: A Family Experience

When a loved one dies, all family members are affected. Each person grieves the loss in his or her own unique way with different intensities in his or her own time. Since everyone is affected, many families struggle to find the words to communicate openly with one another. To help families work together as they grieve the death of a loved one, Community Hospice of Northeast Florida presents a day-long, family workshop designed for children, teens, parents and grandparents to work together to:
  • Define what the loss means to them
  • Identify their feelings
  • Develop healthy coping skills
  • Learn how to provide emotional support within the family system
This workshop will include exercises and discussions designed to generate open family dialogue and promote healing.

Scholarship of the Day

Description:
The DAR Scholarship Committee awards scholarships to qualified applicants regardless of race, religion, sex or national origin. All multi-year scholarships, typically renewable up to four years, must be for consecutive years of attendance at an accredited college or university in the United States. The only exception is the American Indian Scholarship that is available for students pursuing vocational training.

DCPS TECHNOLOGY DIVISION ANNOUNCEMENT!

Scheduled Shutdown Weekend:
Saturday June 4, 2011 from 7:30AM – 4:30PM 

Each month the district’s technology team must apply updates and critical patches to systems to make sure that they are not vulnerable to security threats that are identified by companies such as Microsoft on a regular basis (Once a month).
